There are over 150 different species of Aloe in the world of
which Aloe Vera, Aloe Barb. and Aloe Ferox are used medicinally. Aloe
Ferox is indigenous to the Cape and Southern Kwa-Zulu Natal in South
Africa. Aloe Ferox has a considerably better healing ability over the
other Aloe species.
Aloe Ferox has many medicinal properties but those that are important
in this context, are as follows:
Key Benefits
- Relieves skin irritation
- Retards bleeding
- Increases cellular repair
- Regulates mucous production
When fish get transported or if they fight, their mucoprotein layer
(slimy layer) gets removed or damaged. As this is the fish’s first line
of defense against bacterial or fungal infection, the possibility that the
fish will get sick and die is greatly increased. With the properties of Aloe, the mucous layer
is restored and the wounds heal much faster:- thus increasing the survival rate.
