Bio-Elite Anti-Chlorine contains Aloe Ferox
as an extremely important addition in the formulation.
Chlorine, chloramines and heavy metals are extremely
poisonous to fish. These chemicals and metals are found in our ordinary
tap water from our municipality supply. These chemicals are much less
harmful to humans than to fish. It is vitally important, with any brand of
anti-chlorine, to de-chlorinate the water before the water is added to the
aquarium or pond to reduce the chances of contact between the fish and
these harmful chemicals.
Bio-Elite's unique formulation effectively removes chlorine
and heavy
metals, both of which are extremely toxic to fish and corals. The
addition of Aloe further enhances the protection offered by Bio-Elite's
Anti-Chlorine.
In Municipal water, chlorine and chloramines are
added to the water to destroy the bacteria and to make the water safe for
human consumption. The concentration of chlorine in this water, is
approximately 0.5ppm. Concentrations as little as 0.05ppm are toxic to
aquarium life. Not only does the chlorine damage the tissue of the fish’s
gills, but it also has a detrimental effect on the biological filter. The
combination of these effects is what cause fish deaths, after having
introduced chlorinated water into the system, without using a formula to
remove these toxins.
Heavy metals, although not directly added to the
water, are present in water that is added to the system. These metals are
released into the water in different ways. The most common being that the
metal leaches from the pipes that brings water to our homes and the
plumbing in our house/garden itself. Alternatively the metals are present
in our air due to pollution and cigarette smoke and enters our water
system. Heavy metals are toxic to fish and corals and it is necessary to
remove these to prevent the build up of the metals to toxic levels.
Bio-Elite Anti-Chlorine does not affect the
nitrifying bacteria.
